To apply for the benefits, you must meet the following requirements. First and foremost, in your base period, sufficient earnings should be needed. Second, you must be legally authorized to work in America. Third, you should be out of work, or be reduced working hours without your own fault. Fourth, you must actively hunt suitable job each week, be able to work and be ready to start a new job without delay when offered.
There are two ways provided to you to apply for your unemployment insurance benefits, either by phone using the Applicant Self-Service System or online. But online application is a easier, securer and more convenient way.
How to apply online:
First, you should visit the website www.uimn.org in your web browser, find a button named "Applicant" and click it. On the new page, you will see "Apply for Benefits" under "I need to". By pressing on that button, you pass into the Login page under New Applicant, please enter your Social Security number and click “Start”. Then you will see some guidance information. If you want to know it, you can click the relevant link. If not, you can click "Start the Unemployment Benefit Application" and finish the information requested on each page. At the end of the application, you will be demanded to review the details you entered and make changes before submitting your application. The last step is to click "Submit the Unemployment Benefit Application".
